Superman Returns : Boring, But Visually Stunning!

Dah lama gak nulis ttg pelem. Kali ini ttg film2 yg dulu diramalkan bakal jadi the biggest movie of the year. Yg pertama : Superman Returns. Buat film ini, ramalan di atas ternyata salah.

Walaupun Superman Returns mencetak hits di Amerika, film ini dianggap gagal di sana, mengingat biaya pembuatannya yg sampe 270 juta US Dollar. Film ini juga mengecewakan di berbagai negara, termasuk Jepang. Waktu gw nonton aja, cuman keisi 10% dari 1000 kursi yg ada. Padahal baru minggu kedua pemutaran.

I was always wondering why so many people said that this movie was full of dissappointment. Now I know why : IT'S BOOORIIIING. It was slow-paced and too...drama.

As a superhero movie, Superman Returns has too many boring drama and less entertaining scene. I even fell asleep in the middle of it, when Louis Lane and Superman were flying together. Yes, it was an important scene, that's why I was angry to myself (so, can somebody tell me what's happening when they were flying?).

Well, I must say "Wow!!!" to the special effects, maybe the best I've ever seen. The airplane scene was fantastic! No wonder this movie became the most expensive movie ever. Should win Oscar next year. Too bad great effects seem not enough for Superman.

About the new casts, well....Brandon Routh was OK, he has that "Superman face", and I have to admit that he's charming. Kate Bosworth was OK too, she's pretty and looked tough in this film. But, I don't know why I couldn't feel the "love" between Louis and Superman. It's just not there! Thank God Spacey's Lex Luther was...perfect. He (and the effects) helped this film a lot.

Tapi gak tau kenapa, I LIKE THIS MOVIE! I don't know, maybe because I love drama. Maybe because it's visually stunning. Or maybe because I laughed when the boy said "You're bald!". Or maybe because Superman wasn't the only hero in this movie. Louis and her boyfriend were heroes too. Even Lex Luthor's girlfriend saved the world.

Tapi mungkin alasan utamanya adalah karena akhirnya gw tau kalo Superman itu selalu memperhatikan penampilan. Buktinya, sehebat apa pun dia disiksa, rambut melengkung di jidatnya tetap rapi sepanjang masa. Pake wax apa ya dia? Hahaha...just kidding.

Anyway, I enjoyed this movie a lot. If you see it as a drama, you'll enjoy it too. But as a summer flick, Superman Returns lacks of entertainment.

From how it ends, we know that there will be sequels. Now the question is : will there be "The Next Superman"? Btw, film ini gw kasih 8 out of 10.
